JAZZ HOT" FEATURING KRISTOPHER McDOWELL AT HELEN'S IN NOVEMBER

Kristopher
McDowell returns to the New York Cabaret scene after working in regional
theaters along the West Coast when he brings his new show "Le JAZZ
HOT" to HELEN'S RESTAURANT, CABARET & PIANO LOUNGE (169 Eighth Avenue,
NYC - 212-206-0609 - http://www.helensnyc.com/
) for one night only (two shows) on Wednesday, November 30th at 8:00
& 10:00 pm. Kristopher will be accompanied by Ed Alstrom and trio.
The show is directed by Shari Upbin. The evening features works from
Kander & Ebb, Steve Allen, Duke Ellington, Antonio Francesca Blumenthal,
Ed Alstrom, and Fascinating Aida. 25-year-old McDowell's previous
cabaret engagements have played in New York City, Chicago, Honolulu,
and the West End. There is a $15 cover, $15 minimum.
$10 cover for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE members for the 10:30 pm show,
$12 cover for the first 10 CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE members who make
reservations for the 8:00 pm show.
Audiences in New York
City may remember his 2001 MAC Award Nominated (Outstanding Male Debut)
cabaret show FACES OF LOVE: THE ACT which performed for two months
at West Bank Cafe, or KRISTOPHER AT CHRISTMAS a holiday revue at the
York Theatre which featured guest appearances by Broadway and cabaret
luminaries. He is highlighted on compilation and cast albums and has
his own solo album entitled FACES OF LOVE. Recently he performed on
the West Coast, with featured roles in 42nd STREET (Elly Award Nomination),
FOREVER PLAID, AND THE WORLD GOES 'ROUND, and FOOTLOOSE.
Musical director Ed Alstrom
has recorded two solo CD's and has played for Bette Midler, Chuck
Berry, Lou Rawls and on Broadway for TABOO and HAIRSPRAY. Alstrom
is the recipient of the 2003 Back Stage Bistro Award for Outstanding
Singer/Songwriter/Instrumentalist and was nominated in 2002 for the
MAC Award (Outstanding Male Debut). Maestro Alstrom also serves as
an organist at Yankee Stadium.
"Le JAZZ HOT" creator
and director Shari Upbin has directed cabaret and theatrical events
in New York City for venues such as The National Arts Council, The
Village Gate, Florence Gould Hall, and The John Houseman Theatre.
Ms. Upbin is also director of TIMELESS DIVAS! at the Triad Theatre.
After performing in the
Central California Cabaret Series, "Le JAZZ HOT" will continue for
a minimum of four additional performances at HELEN'S in March 2005.
