KAREN MASON AT NJPAC WITH HOLIDAY SHOW

NJPAC's Cabaret at the Chase series is very pleased to welcome back Karen Mason with her annual holiday show to The Chase Room at the NEW JERSEY PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (One Center Street, Newark, NJ - 888-466-5722 - http://www.njpac.org/ ) on Saturday, December 11th at 7:30 pm. Ms. Mason's appearance at NJPAC will include songs from her live recording of the now-fabled Christmas concert at the THE WEST BANK CAFE/LAURIE BEECHMAN THEATER (407 West 42nd Street, NYC - 212-695-6909), Christmas! Christmas! Christmas! Tickets are $47.

Karen most recently headlined in concert at The Kennedy Center in DC. She portrayed Dorothy Parker in You Might As Well Live during the Chicago Humanities Festival. Karen originated the role of Tanya in Abba's smash hit Broadway musical Mamma Mia, receiving a 2002 Drama Desk nomination for the second time (previously nominated for Carnival).

Ms. Mason's other Broadway credits include the starring role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard (in New York and Los Angeles), Jerome Robbins' Broadway, Torch Song Trilogy and Play Me A Country Song. Off-Broadway, she starred in And the World Goes Round (Outer Critics Circle Award) and Karen Mason Sings Broadway.

As an acclaimed cabaret and concert artist, Karen Mason has won the MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs) Award seven times in the categories of Major Female Vocalist (including 2004) and Major Female Recording of the Year for her CD When the Sun Comes Out. Additional music awards include television's Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song on "Guiding Light" and the Back Stage Bistro Award for Best Vocalist and Best CD.

Ms. Mason has headlined at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Feinstein's at the Regency, The Russian Tea Room, Rainbow & Stars, the Algonquin's Oak Room, Arci's Place, The Plush Room in San Francisco, and Davenport's in Chicago. She has appeared with the St. Louis Symphony, and performed throughout Europe and South America. Ms. Mason has shared concert stages with Luciano Pavarotti, Rosemary Clooney, Liza Minnelli, Michael Feinstein, Jerry Herman, John Kander and Fred Ebb, among others.

In addition to her last release, Right Here, Right Now, other recordings include the award-winning When the Sun Comes Out, Christmas! Christmas! Christmas!, Better Days, and Not So Simply Broadway. She can also be heard on the soundtrack of Jeffrey, the studio cast recording of Wonderful Town, the original cast album of And the World Goes Round, The Child in Me, Vol. 1, and Lost in Boston II.

NJPAC's Cabaret at the Chase recreates the intimate setting of a cabaret with bistro-style table seating as well as a cash bar and other refreshments available for purchase. Cabaret at the Chase is made possible through the generosity of the Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation and the support of Panasonic.
