Kooky Tunes is the newest, wildest and silliest Off-Broadway revue from New York writer Keith Thompson. It's premiere sell-out season in Sydney and subsequent visits to venues across the country gained impressive audience and media acclaim. Kooky Tunes wowed audiences when it played in Sydney earlier this year, and with an Australia-wide tour behind them, the cast are returning to where it all began with a special return season at Kabarett Voltaire.

The New York life of Kooky Tunes started in 1998 at Eighty Eights in the Village and ran several seasons to huge acclaim, transferring to the Laurie Beecham Theatre (Off-Broadway) for a sell-out run. But the Kooky impact was yet to hit its major audience. After the events of September 11 profoundly affected everyone in New York, Keith Thompson started getting many requests to revive the show, with people saying "Its time to laugh again." The show opened in the main room at Don't Tell Mamma and played for several sell-out seasons and was picked up by Jay Records for a cast recording in 2002. The show takes its audience on a fun, light-hearted journey through a series of characters and songs, with a true wacky and Kooky Manhattan flair.
