KEVIN HUNT'S WORLD OF GERSHWIN

Lovers of the music of George and Ira Gershwin are in for a treat when some of Australia's finest jazz performers take the stage at CABARET HEADLINERS at the National Press Club (16 National Circuit, Barton ACT, AU - 6273 3644 - http://www.npc.org.au/cabaret.htm ) on Saturday, September 25th to present just one performance of "Kevin Hunt's World of Gershwin." To create "Kevin Hunt's World of Gershwin" Hunt invited Marie Wilson, a three time MO Award winner for 'Australian Jazz Vocalist,' Johnny Nicol renowned jazz guitarist and vocalist, and double bass virtuoso Dave Pudney to join him. These four outstanding jazz supremos combine and focus their superb talents on the Gershwin musical catalogue to create an unforgettable night of superb musical entertainment. Tickets are $55.00 membersm $75.00 Guests (includes Dinner and Show).

Kevin Hunt, acknowledged as one of the country's finest jazz pianists and recording artists has always been attracted to the music of the Gershwins. George Gershwin of course is considered to be one of the most important composers of the Twentieth Century, credited with introducing jazz stylised symphonic music into concert hall programs. Gershwin was also a wonderful "tune-smith" who, together with his brother, Ira, created melodies that continue to charm and entertain millions of people throughout the world.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

KEVIN HUNT: A popular and versatile jazz pianist, Kevin Hunt has, over the last 16 years, shared the stage with international artists including Herb Ellis, Billy Cobham, Sheila Jordan, Mark Murphy and Larry Adler. He has also recorded and performed with most of Sydney's prominent jazz artists including Janet Seidel, James Morrison, Bob Barnard and Tom Baker. He works with his own trio, the "Kevin Hunt JS Bach Trio" and also tours extensively with Don Burrows. Together with Don Burrows he conducts workshops and master classes for school and university students.

MARIE WILSON: Marie Wilson has established herself as one of Australia's leading jazz vocalists. She has three times been awarded the MO Award for Australian Jazz Vocalist, in '95, '99 and 2002. Marie has released three CD's. The Very Thought of You was the first Australian jazz vocal album to be released in the United States. Her latest release is a collaboration with Hunt, and is a tribute to the magic of Hoagy Carmichael.

JOHN NICOL Recognised as one of the finest jazz guitarists in Australia, John Nicol was born in Ayr, Queensland. As a member of The Maori Troubadours he toured the length and breadth of Australia. Leaving The Troubadours to go solo, John travelled overseas where he appeared in numerous prestigious venues including The Hacienda in Las Vegas, and several Playboy Clubs. Returning to Australia he made numerous regular guest appearances on television's national Midday Show and headlined at The Don Burrows Supper Club in Sydney's Regent Hotel. His awards include the MO Award, the inaugural Ricky May Jazz Award, and The Artists and Performing Rights Award.

DAVE PUDNEY Much in demand on the Sydney jazz scene and long standing musical colleague of Kevin Hunt, Dave Pudney is featured the Kevin Hunt CD "Love Walked In".
