Located midway between the cities of Los Angeles and Anaheim, the SHANNON CENTER at Whittier College has been producing professional entertainment for 13 successful years. Founded in 1999 by performer Lisa Bowman, LITTLE BIT PRODUCTIONS has produced numerous shows in the Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay Area, including several record-breaking Revues, large benefit Galas, and other individual shows. CABARET WEST is a non-profit association dedicated to the promotion, awareness and advancement of cabaret performance as an art form on the West Coast. Inaugurated in 1995, their nearly 400 members include established as well as up-and-coming performers, club and other venue owners, and the loyal patrons who attend their shows. Their website is http://www.cabaretwest.org/.

A big band/jazz singer since her student days at Pasadena City College, Jennifer Gates is known by her fans as "The Lady of Jazz." Delivering songs like "Hooray for Love" and "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" with class and a touch of sass, this mezzo-soprano's unique style, reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald, recalls the bluesy, smooth sounds of early swing. In constant demand throughout Southern California, she is a regular at Penelope's in La Canada. Other frequent appearances include such hot spots as the Jonathan Club in downtown Los Angeles, the California Club, The Derby on Los Feliz, the Wilshire Country Club, and the Rhino Club in Huntington Beach. Some of the big bands she swings with include the Blue Rhythm Jazz Orchestra, The Down Beat Express Big Band, Rick Malanson + 10, the John Peace Big Band, and Swingin' Inc. Ms. Gates is a former member of the Columbia Records' recording group, The Free Movement, whose hit single, "I Found Someone of My Own," sold more than a million copies. For her Shannon Center engagement, she will be accompanied by a four-piece combo. If you love big band and jazz music, this is the singer for you!

Opening for Ms. Gates will be Cal Poly music and theatre student Alyssa Cossey.
