Margaret Curry Sings In the Meanwhile ...

Singer, actress Margaret Curry debuts her solo show "in the meanwhile..." at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/) on Tuesdays, May 4th & 18th at 9:00 pm and Fridays, May 7th & 21st at 7:00 pm. "in the meanwhile" showcases a variety of songwriters past and present, from Johnny Mercer, E.Y. Harburg, Ira & George Gershwin, Leiber & Stoller and Richard Rodgers, to Norah Jones, Johnny Rodgers, Stephen Sondheim and Alan & Marilyn Bergman. With musical direction by the multi-award winning arranger/musical director Rick Jensen and Mark Wade on bass, the show is directed by longtime legendary cult diva, Lina Koutrakos. There is a $10 cover and 2-drink minimum. CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE & MAC members, seniors and students will be admitted at a discounted $5 cover.

Ms. Curry's song stylings were applauded in last year's musical revue "(Something)", playing to sold-out audiences at Judy's Chelsea before moving to Don't Tell Mama for added performances. In February 2004, Margaret received Honorable Mention for Cabaret in the Joyce Dutka Arts Foundation Vocalist Competition. She is a 2002 recipient of the Andy Anselmo Achievement Award, sharing the honor with past Anselmo Award winners Julie Wilson, Billy Stritch, Amanda Green, Julie Reyburn and Thos Shipley. On April 26th Margaret will perform at the 2004 Anselmo Awards at Lincoln Center's Kaplan Penthouse alongside 2004 Award winners Tovah Feldshuh, Maria Bartiromo and Johnny King, and award presenter Alec Baldwin.

Ms. Curry has performed in New York City venues such as Birdland, The Duplex, Don't Tell Mama, Danny's Skylight Cabaret Room, Judy's Chelsea, and Mama Rose, and in benefits and galas at The Sky Club, The Sheldon House, The Fredonia Historic Opera House and private residences in NYC and upstate, and many off-off-Broadway theatres.

Acting credits include creating the role of Auntie Dote in the Off-Off Broadway debut of Joel Forrester's satirical musical FASCIST LIVING at The Flea, directed by Sarah Moore; the female detective in A&E's THE HUNT, starring Jerry Orbach; and Colin Quinn's crazed ex-girlfriend in the MTV comedy special BACK TO BROOKLYN, written by and starring Colin Quinn, directed by Ben Stiller. Most recently, Margaret performed in a staged reading of the mini-musical "Two Microbes From Mars" written by Mira J. Spektor and Kate McKeod, in the Square One Series of Golden Fleece Ltd.
