Grammy Winner BJ Crosby to Light Up Prince's Morgans Cabaret

Fresh from a dramatic role at Yale Repertory Theater and her star turn as "Mama" in the Broadway revival of Chicago, Tony-nominated singer and actress BJ Crosby will dazzle audiences with her remarkable voice and range when she brings her one-woman show, "Just One of Those Things," to MORGANS CABARET at THE PRINCE MUSIC THEATER (1412 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA - 215-569-9700 - http://www.princemusictheater.org/ ) from May 5th through 16th. Throughout her 12-show run, the Grammy-Award winning irrepressible "brass-layered belter" will sing the blues, stylize the standards, scat the jazz and raise the roof for audiences in the intimate cabaret setting. Performance times are Wednesdays & Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays at 8:30 pm, Saturdays at 7:00 and 10:00 pm and Sundays at 3:00 pm. General admission for Just One of Those Things, the final Morgans Cabaret show of the season, are $30 for weekdays and $35 for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. A full bar, coffee and a light fare menu will be offered, with a $5 minimum per person at each cabaret performance.

Throughout a multi-layered career as a singer, recording artist and stage and television performer, Crosby has earned numerous accolades and performed in such acclaimed productions as Smokey Joe's Cafe, Chicago, Dreamgirls and Harlem Song and in such TV shows as "Ally McBeal," "Law & Order" and "The Bill Cosby Show." Her talents have also been showcased at the New Orleans Jazz Fest, New York's "Great Women in Music" festival and many club venues.

BJ Crosby Crosby is currently finishing a role in The King's Stage at Yale Repertory Theater. On Broadway, she most recently played Matron "Mama" Morton in Chicago. Other Broadway credits include One Mo' Time and the smash hit Smokey Joe's Cafe, which received a Grammy Award for "Best Musical Show Album" and earned Crosby a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for the London premiere and Tony and NAACP nominations for "Best Actress in a Musical." A member of the U.S. and British original casts, she is featured in the show's original cast recordings. She had a starring role in George C. Wolfe's Harlem Song at the Apollo Theater and has also performed in the national tours of The Civil War and Dreamgirls and in regional productions of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and Ain't Misbehavin'.

Over the years, Crosby has been featured in numerous television shows. Her TV credits include "Ally McBeal," "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," "Law & Order," "Mad About You," "The Life of Romare Beardon," "The Bill Cosby Show," "Family Matters," "Victoria's Secret" and "Smokey Joe's Cafe: Live From Broadway." She has performed as a guest soloist with the New Jersey Symphony and has been showcased at Disney World. Her recordings include He's Right on Time (Sparrow Records) and a collaboration with Ellis Marsalis on A Tribute to Billie Holiday, which won an Ace Award.
