NEXT "BROADWAY BY THE YEAR" SHOW HARKENS BACK TO 1935

On Monday, March 15th at 8:00 pm, THE TOWN HALL (123 West 43rd Street, NYC - 212-840-2824 - http://www.the-townhall-nyc.org/) presents the next installment of its popular Broadway by the Year series. This time around writer/host Scott Siegel takes a look at the hits and undiscovered gems of 1935. Eight new musicals arrived on Broadway that year, including Porgy & Bess, Jubilee, Jumbo and May Wine. "Begin the Beguine", "My Romance" and "Little Girl Blue" are just some of the wonderful tunes sure to be sung. Tickets $45 & $37.50 thru TicketMaster, 212-307-4100 or the Town Hall Box Office.

The all-star cast features Douglas Sills (Tony Nominee for The Scarlet Pimpernel and presently stars in Little Shop of Horrors), Emily Skinner (Tony Nominee for Side Show), Karen Akers (Tony Nominee for Nine), Barbara Walsh (Tony Nominee for Falsettos, presently in Hairspray), Chuck Cooper (Tony Award for The Life, also starring in Caroline or Change), Gretha Boston (Tony Award for Showboat, Tony Nominee for Ain't Nothin' But The Blues), Darius de Haas (Obie Award, Running Man), Laurie Williamson (currently in Wonderful Town), cabaret star Todd Murray and cabaret star Lumiri Tubo.

Now in its fourth season, Broadway by the Year takes the audience on a musical tour of the Great White Way. Each evening celebrates the songs from Broadway shows from a selected year, sung by a cast of talented Broadway and cabaret performers. This fascinating program not only highlights favorite show-stopping numbers but also lesser-known melodies from yesteryear.
