DEBORAH BOILY RETURNS TO LARRY'S ROOM AT PIZZA ON THE PARK

Deborah Boily's new cabaret show "Thank You For The Music" will be presented at PIZZA ON THE PARK (11 Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, London - 020-7235-5273 - http://www.pizzaonthepark.co.uk/ ) for four performances, Thursday through Sunday, May 26th through 29th, with two shows nightly at 9:15 and 10:45 pm. Deborah's special guest is acclaimed London talent Nathan Martin, who at a young age has performed in concert and cabaret all over the world. Accompanying Deborah Boily is her musical director Jerome Kaslin, a French pianist who has a background in classical, pop and Latin music, as well as jazz (influenced especially by jazz pianist Art Tatum). He has worked with Deborah Boily for the past decade in both Paris and Houston, recording two CDs with her. Tickets are £12 in advance; £14 on the door on Wednesdays and Thursdays; £14 and £16 on Fridays and Saturdays.

Ms. Boily, who calls Houston, TX her home, has previously brought her artistry to London, at JERMYN STREET THEATRE in 2002 in a show called "I've Got My Standards ... Now & Then!" This cabaret, which debuted in New York, went on to Houston, London and Paris. Revised and re-named "Thank You For The Music," it was recorded live in June of 2003 and was recently released on the LML Music label. She has recorded two previous CDs, "A French Collection" and "The Song Remembers When."

"Thank You For The Music" promises a wide selection of musical styles. Boily, born in Louisiana, is grounded in American songs, standards as well as contemporary, by songwriters ranging from The Gershwins ("The Man I Love,") to The Bergmans ("On My Way To You", "Where Do You Start") to Jason Robert Brown ("Stars and The Moon,") and John Bucchino ("Unexpressed"). She even offers a country music song chosen for its storytelling lyrics, "Austin," paired with "Crazy." Her American repertoire includes, like plums in a cake, treats like "Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini," and "Purple People Eater," among other 1950'S & 60'S novelty numbers rarely heard on the cabaret circuit.

In another segment, Deborah fluently sings in French in tribute to her love of Jacques Brel ("If We Only Have Love"). In a fascinating bit of musical history, she shares how some songs claimed as American popular songs began life as French chansons, illustrated by singing side by side the original and then the American versions of "My Man" and "My Way." On a lighter note, she offers a parody of Edith Piaf's "No Regrets" with "I Regret Everything".

Ms. Boily has lived and worked in both Paris and London. In 1994 she moved to Paris and sang at the Hotel Westminster, performing her American cabaret songs as well as songs from the French repertoire. In the following years, from 1996-98, she lived in London where she performed at Pizza on the Park, Jermyn Street Theatre, The Green Room and CentreStage. She appeared in a West End musical revue, The Mercury Theatre Project's "Late and Lyrical," and recorded her first CD while living in London.

Off Broadway, Deborah Boily has appeared in the musical comedy "Mamelah!" Her cabaret career began in the late '80's when she began to write and perform one-woman shows of French popular music. The first was entitled "I Always Wanted To Be French," followed by "From Piaf to Brel and Beyond," and "Ce Soir ... Cabaret." An inspired playwright then wrote for Deborah "Piaf in Vienna," about a young woman who believes she is Edith Piaf. This work was premiered at the New Jersey Repertory Company in 2000 and went on to be seen at Riverside Theater in Florida. Boily's professional career as an actress and singer has led her to perform roles in Threepenny Opera, Juno, Flora the Red Menace, Company, Marry Me A Little, Merrily We Roll Along, Blue Window, Blood Brothers, A New Brain and Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris (which she also directed).

Nathan Martin is a noted musical director who has worked with West End talents including Gay Soper, Morag McLaren, Liz Robertson and Robert Meadmore, as well as Broadway singers including Brent Barrett, Marin Mazzie and Donna McKechnie. In London, he has musical directed shows including Dorothy Fields Forever (The King's Head Theatre), Assassins (New End) and High Spirits (Bridewell). He has performed as a singer/pianist in solo shows at Pizza on the Park, Jermyn Street Theatre, Covent Garden Theatre Museum, Lauderdale House, Dulwich Picture Gallery, and at Don't Tell Mama in New York. He has worked extensively with Steven Brinberg on his Simply Barbra show which has toured the world, and he has played piano for West End shows including Miss Saigon and The Lion King. Nathan has released his own debut CD, "Anywhere With You."
