TERRY BLAINE SWINGS GOODMAN AT THE MANOR IN SEPTEMBER

Vocalist Terri Blaine will appear at LE DOME at The Manor (111 Prospect Avenue, West Orange, NJ - 973-731-2360 - http://themanorrestaurant.com/ ) in Thursday, September 9th as part of the Manor's Cabaeret Soiree Series. Her show is called "Swingin' The Benny Goodman Songbook." Benny Goodman's clarinet helped define a whole new style of music in the 1930s: Swing. His classic recordings of popular songs and dance music, so powerful and exciting then, still captivate us today. Buoyed by the elegant piano of Teddy Wilson, great vocals by Helen Ward, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Martha Tilton, Helen Forrest, Peggy Lee and others, and by innovative arrangements by Fletcher Henderson, Benny Goodman became a bona fide star, and jazz was transformed as the Swing Era was born. "Swingin' The Benny Goodman Songbook" explores this rich period m classic jazz history. The Cabaret Soiree consists of a 4-course, 4-star dinner and show package, with dinner seatings at 6:00, 6:15, and 6:30 p.m. ShowTime is 9:00 p.m. Cost for dinner and show is $69 plus tax & tip. Wait-list "show only" seats available at $35 per person.

Born in New York City, Terry Blaine has been singing virtually all of her life, lending her voice to live performances, studio recordings, commercials ("The Train to the Plane," "Bain du Soleil"), appearing on TV and radio shows, and writing/producing. Her musical collaboration with Mark Shane, which marks its 19th anniversary this year, began as a 3-1/2 year stint at Cafe Society in Greenwich Village, and includes appearances at such prestigious venues as Michael's Pub, Fat Tuesday's, the Plaza Hotel, the Lakeland Jazz Festival, and Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. Terry's style of singing is a gentle, swinging reminder of who we were and where we came from, instilled with a spirit that only genuine affection can inspire.

Mark Shane's piano reflects a true sense of living jazz history and continues the tradition of buoyant swing and lyrical melodic improvisation. He played with Benny Goodman and was featured at the 50th Anniversary Benny Goodman Memorial Concert at Carnegie Hall.

Acclaimed clarinetist Allan Vache is well known as one of the most versatile and exciting soloists working in jazz today, maintaining a busy schedule of concerts, recordings and festival appearances worldwide.
