Toby Blackwell's "BITTER" Extended at the Duplex

Toby Blackwell is still "BITTER" at THE DUPLEX (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/). This extended run of his successful show performs on Saturdays, January 24th and 31st at 7:00 pm and Saturday, February 7th at 9:00 pm. D. Jay Bradley music directs and Maria Gentile directs this multi-media presentation. There will be a $10 music charge and a 2-drink minimum.

Mr. Blackewll has been a gay Naval officer, a theme park singer, a wannabe Survivor contestant, a lover of fallen Divas and through it all, he has remained ... bitter. Three more performances means three more chances to laugh and cry along with Toby as he explains what exactly makes him bitter. It's three more chances to see his Survivor audition tape and learn how visiting his crazy Filipino mother has prepared him for the show; three more chances to hear the musings of Kameela, the pregnant, disgruntled Disney employee; and, of course, three more chances to see the show-stopping "parade of Divas," beginning with a discussion of and video excerpts from Ms. Whitney Houston's infamous Primetime interview.

More than just a comedian, Toby also imparts some serious messages to his audience, addressing issues such as homophobia and the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, under which he served. Toby has also gained a following for his vocal abilities. Blending stand-up comedy with the elements of more traditional "cabaret", combining Pop, folk, and R&B music with songs from contemporary musical theatre, Toby Blackwell proves why it's good to be "Bitter."
