"ROCK 2: THE NEW ROCK ALBERS SHOW" ROCKS INTO NEW YEAR

With full houses and rave reviews, award-winning comedian and "comedy crusader" Rock Albers' new show "Rock 2: The New Rock Albers Show," has been extended at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/) into 2004. "Rock 2" will be performed on Saturdays at 5:00 pm, January 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st. The show's musical director and co-author is Dick Gallagher. The new show is a sequel to the hit show "The Rock Albers Show," which Albers performed before enthusiastic audiences and critics for more than three years, and won him back-to-back MAC Awards as Best Male Stand-up Comedian in 2002 and 2003.

Albers' subjects in the new show range from the selection of Supreme Court Justices to an astrological imbalance in Congress. He also rants about James Bond, Corvettes, The Golden Girls, big weddings and the Lincoln Tunnel. The shows includes parody songs about American icons Dr. Phil, Britney Spears and Cher--not to mention such American institutions as Wal-Mart and "The View" and the State of Oklahoma (his home state). He sums up the educational system of Oklahoma by the famous quote of Dr. George L. Cross, the former President of the University of Oklahoma, "We want to build a university the football team will be proud of."

At the 2003 MAC Awards at Symphony Space, Albers won the Best Male Stand-up Comedian Award for the second straight year. Albers performs in all of the major New York comedy clubs including Carolines, Standup New York, Gotham, Comic Strip, Comedy Cellar, Boston Comedy, Don't Tell Mama, Rose's Turn and The Duplex. He was recently a guest on National Public Radio's "The Next Big Thing," and he has also been seen on New York 1 News as well as MTV.

Dick Gallagher, who composed the music for the hit Off-Broadway show, "When Pigs Fly," which played in New York for two years and has worked with singers including Patti LuPone and has received eight MAC Awards for musical direction. He received the 2003 MAC Award for Best Musical Director.

The show's director and co-author is award-winning director and writer Stephen Rosenfield who has directed at The Roundabout Theatre, The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Actor's Studio and is the Director of the American Comedy Institute and the Standup Comedy Workshop.
