Peter
Yawitz returns to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-757-0788
- http://www.donttellmama.com/)
with his show, "Talk Like a Guy," following two highly acclaimed shows
last July. Performances will be Monday, January 27th at 7:30 pm, Tuesday,
January 28th at 8:30 pm and Sunday, February 2nd at 6:30 pm. Highlights
of the show include original comedy songs with music by Dick Gallagher
and lyrics by Peter Yawitz. Musical director is Dick Gallagher, and
director is Helen Baldassare.
Peter Yawitz splits his
time among writing songs and performing; advising corporate executives
on how to communicate in the workplace; and being a responsible urban
husband and father. Many years ago he performed in musicals and plays
in and around New York City. He was also the cartoon singing voice
of Mumfie The Elephant in Britt Allcroft's "The Magic Adventures of
Mumfie," a television show and video.
Mr. Yawitz wrote the lyrics
for two of the songs in the show, "Talk Like A Guy" and "Cliche Bingo,"
and they will be performed with Dick Gallagher's original music. He
was born and raised in Manhattan, where he still lives, graduated
from Princeton University, and received an MBA from the Wharton School
of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dick Gallagher composed
three off-Broadway shows with Mark Waldrop: "Howard Crabtree's When
Pigs Fly," "Howard Crabtree's Whoop-Dee-Doo," and "Whatnot," which
have collectively won at least seven of New York's most prestigious
awards, including the Drama Desk, the OBIE, the Outer Critics' Circle
Award, and the Richard Rodgers Production Award. He is also one of
the busiest music directors and accompanists, performing with Patti
LuPone, Donna McKechnie, and many others stars in cabaret venues,
large concert halls and on television. Dick has received six awards
for outstanding music direction from the Manhattan Association of
Cabarets.
