Jennifer Winegardner Creates Cabaret Show On Stage at Two Venues

Jennifer Winegardner travels uptown and downtown, asking the age-old question "what becomes a cabaret legend most?" in her debut solo cabaret show "$10 Cover, 2 Ballad Maximum" at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/) Tuesday, May 20th at 10:00 pm, Saturday, May 24th at 6:30 pm and Monday, May 26th at 7:00 pm. She will also perform the same show at UPSTAIRS AT ROSE'S TURN (55 Grove Street, NYC - 1-212-366-5438) Wednesday, May 21st at 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 22nd at 9:00 pm and Thursday, May 29th at 7:00 pm. There is a $10 cover, 2-drink minimum.

By the opening bars of her highly anticipated solo cabaret debut "$10 Cover, 2 Ballad Maximum," Jennifer Winegardner finds herself in a curious predicament.û She doesn't have a show! But this skilled character actress won't let a little thing like "no show" stop her.û As the clock ticks and the drinks flow, Jennifer tries every trick in the cabaret book to please her audience, and in the end, finds herself with a crowd-pleasing show in just 50-55 minutes.

Armed with only two ballads, a plethora of quirky uptempos and a handful of hilarious characters, "$10 Cover, 2 Ballad Maximum" reveals the ugly truth of what it takes to make the show go on, when the show has up and gone.

Written & Directed by Kevin Hammonds whose credits include "Heads Up" at the John Houseman Theatre, "Piece of Cake" and "Men: The Musical!" at the Judith Anderson Theatre, and "Brenda Bly: Teen Detective," which is scheduled for a run at the Bridewell Theatre, London next fall.

Musical Direction by John McMahon, a pianist, vocal coach, composer and conductor who works with many performers from Broadway and cabaret, and whose jazz arrangement of Sondheim's "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" can be heard on Lea Delaria's CD "Play it Cool" on Warner Brother's Jazz Label.
