Wilson Center Cabaret Series in Wisconsin Announces New Season

THE SHARON LYNNE WILSON CENTER FOR THE ARTS (19805 West Capitol Drive, Brookfield, WI - 262-781-9520) is proud to offer again this year the popular Wilson Center Cabaret Series. Subscriptions and individual tickets are now on sale. The schedule for the 2003-2004 season is as follows:

Friday & Saturday, October 24-25 at 8:00 pm

Jennifer Chada in "Once Upon a Mid-Lifetime" at the Dawes Studio Theater presented by Stepping Out Productions. 2002 "After Dark" award winning vocalist, Jennifer Chada returns to the Wilson Center cabaret stage in her latest solo show. A member of the smash hit "Leading Ladies of Chicago" in 2002, Chada's new show features songs from an eclectic array of songwriters. "Once Upon a Mid Lifetime" looks at the foibles and fables that come from enduring "half" a lifetime in this wacky, wonderful world. Price: $20 - Student/Senior Price: $18, Groups (10 or more): $16

Friday & Saturday, January 16-17 at 8:00 pm

"An Evening in Paris" at the Dawes Studio Theater presented by Skylight Opera Theater. Enjoy an eclectic evening of music saluting the romantic atmosphere of France, from Jacques Brel to Edith Piaf to Cole Porter. Favorite Skylight performers will be featured in this stroll through the perfumed air of such delightful melodies as April in Paris and La Vie en Rose. Sure to warm your heart on a cold winter night! Friday & Saturday, February 6-7, 2004 at 8:00 pm

"An Intimate Evening with Beckie Menzie & Tom Michael" at the Dawes Studio Theater presented by Stepping Out Productions. Beckie Menzie and Tom Michael have been performing together across the country for many years. Their past acclaimed shows have consistently been included in Cabaret Scenes Magazine's "Top Ten Chicago Shows of the Year." Beckie is the only two- time recipient of the annual "After Dark Award" for Best Cabaret Artist in Chicago, and was featured in the sold-out Leading Ladies of Chicago show at the Wilson Center in 2002. Tom was included in Cabaret Scenes Magazine "Top 100 Cabaret Artists of the new Millennium" and will star in Across A Crowded Room at The Music of Richard Rodgers at the Stackner Cabaret in the summer of 2003. "Skylight Artist Cabaret" at the Dawes Studio Theater Presented by Skylight Opera Theater. Artists of the Skylight Opera Theatre will again light up the stage in the intimate atmosphere of the Studio Theater with music from Broadway, operetta and cabaret. Enjoy the talents of these exciting performers as they explore music by American masters and emerging new composers. Price: $20 - Student/Senior Price: $18, Groups (10 or more): $16

Friday & Saturday, May 7-8, 2004 at 8:00 pm

Anne Kerry Ford in "Something Wonderful - The Music of Oscar Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim" at the Dawes Studio Theater Presented by Stepping Out Productions. Anne Kerry Ford graduated from The Juilliard School of Drama when she was only twenty years old, and followed this training with lead roles on Broadway (Annie and Threepenny Opera), film (opposite Dudley Moore in Lovesick and Michael Keaton in Clean and Sober), and daytime television (Days of Our Lives). This show centers around the powerful influence and inspiration that Stephen Sondheim received through his mentor Oscar Hammerstein II. The song selections trace the path of being in love - the joy, tenderness, trepidation, vulnerability and passion that goes along with love.
