DALLAS ACTOR/COMIC RETURNS HOME FROM NEW YORK WITH HIT SHOW

Texas-bred actor/comedian, Paul J. Williams, who left Dallas in 1997 to spend time living and working in New York City, has moved back to Dallas and will be performing his six-character show, DISHING IT OUT, for one weekend only. DISHING IT OUT will be presented at TRINITY RIVER ARTS CENTER (2600 Stemmons Freeway, Suite 180, Dallas, TX - 214-630-5491), on Friday & Saturday, July 11th & 12 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, July 13th at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $17.00.

Well-known to Dallas audiences as one-third of the comedy trio, LESS MISERABLE, Paul has long been known not only for his great comedic timing, but also his ability to create recognizable characters. In keeping with that tradition and the inspiration of Paul's comedy "idol," Lily Tomlin, DISHING IT OUT is completely character driven, with Paul playing numerous personas throughout the entire show. Taking place in a Texas cafeteria, the central character is a food server who seems to know everybody who comes through her line, and inevitably, each of these people become the other characters in the show, as we get a glimpse into the daily goings on of the lunchtime patrons of this Southern gathering place. From a chain-smoking real estate agent to a narrow-minded preacher (and others in between), DISHING IT OUT is a one-man tour de force capitalizing on Paul's hilarious creativity and improv abilities, as the audience becomes patrons in the cafeteria as well, interacting with the characters on stage. Whether dishing out chicken fried steak, juicy gossip, or words of wit and wisdom, DISHING IT OUT has a hearty appetite for fun and laughter for the whole family.

Paul had numerous successes in New York, having had two very successful runs of his cabaret show LEFT, OUT,...AND NOT RIGHT! at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/), which garnered him a three-time nomination by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) as Outstanding Male Comic. In addition, he performed at every comedy club in the city, as well as appearing at comedy festivals across the USA. DISHING IT OUT had its New York premiere last summer as a part of the HOT Festival at Dixon Place and has also played to packed houses in Charlotte, NC and San Antonio. After six years in New York, Paul decided to return to his roots in Dallas to continue his work in theater and comedy.
