THE TRAPP FAMILY SINGER MAKES NYC CABARET DEBUT AT DANNY'S

Singer/comedian Doug Trapp brings his show "The Trapp Family Singer" to DANNY'S SKYLIGHT ROOM (342 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-265-8133 - http://www.dannysgrandseapalace.com/), January 14th & 16th, Tuesday & Thursday at 7:00 pm. Musical director is David Lohman. There will be a $12.00 music charge and a $10.00 food/drink minimum.

Fresh from his successful engagement at the Loring Playhouse in Minneapolis, this popular and heartwarming cabaret show is a delightful evening of songs and stories about a boy growing up in a very southern family and finding his own way, out of the South, and out in the world. The story is told through songs ranging from the standards of Rogers & Hammerstein, Berlin and Jerry Herman to contemporary works by John Bucchino, Shelly Markham and Zina Goldrich & Marcy Heisler.

Doug's cabaret career began as a fluke. He and a friend were rehearsing a song for the Men's Chorus fundraiser, and decided to call themselves Steve and Eddie Gourmet. They were an instant hit and for the next two years they performed in clubs all over Minneapolis spoofing everyone from Olivia Newton John and Helen Reddy to The Captain and Tennille. In 2000 Doug was accepted as one of the 36 Fellows at the O'Neill Theater Center's Cabaret Symposium.

In the summer of 2002 he put everything he learned about cabaret to the test and developed, The Trapp Family Singer. It was an instant success in the Twin Cities, and following this New York debut, he plans to tour the show nationally.

Doug's theatrical roles include leads in Big River, A Little Night Music, Forever Plaid, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, The Music Man, The Merry Widow, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Death of a Salesman, How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Sweeney Todd. His commercial work includes TV and radio spots for Target, Lifetime Fitness and Land O'Lakes to mention a few.
