"ROCK 2: THE NEW ROCK ALBERS SHOW" AT DUPLEX

Award-winning comic/singer Rock Albers returns to the New York stage this fall in a brand new show, poking fun at American pop culture in the unique style that has now won him back-to-back MAC Awards for his stand-up comedy. The new show "Rock 2: The New Rock Albers Show" is a sequel to "The Rock Albers Show," which he performed to enthusiastic audiences and critics for more than three years. The eccentric comedian, dubbed by his fans as "America's comedy crusader," will be giving eight performances of his new show at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/), on Saturdays at 5:00 pm, October 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, and Saturdays at 7:00 pm, November 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. Albers' subjects in his new show range from the selection of Supreme Court Justices and moving the capital of Russia to the ranking of US Presidents as well an astrological imbalance in Congress. He also rants about James Bond, Corvettes, The Simpsons, The Golden Girls, big weddings and the Lincoln Tunnel. Parody songs about American icons Dr. Phil, Britney Spears, and Cher as well as Wal-Mart and "The View" are also a part of this all new show.

Albers won the 2003 MAC Award as the Best Male Stand-Up Comedian at Symphony Space in April 2003 and also received the 2002 MAC Award as the Best Male Stand-Up Comedian at Town Hall in April 2002. Albers is performing in all of the major New York comedy clubs including Carolines, Stand-up New York, Gotham, Comic Strip, Comedy Cellar, Boston Comedy, Don't Tell Mama, Rose's Turn and The Duplex. He was recently a guest on National Public Radio's "The Next Big Thing," and he has also been seen on New York 1 News as well as MTV.

The show's musical director is Dick Gallagher, who composed the music for the hit Off-Broadway show, "When Pigs Fly," which played in New York for two years. As a musical director, Gallagher has worked with singers including Patti LuPone and has received eight MAC Awards for musical direction. He received the 2003 MAC Award for Best Musical Director. The MAC Awards, sponsored by the Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs, are presented annually to honor achievements in live entertainment.

The show is directed by award winning director and writer Stephen Rosenfield who has directed at The Roundabout Theatre, The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Actor's Studio and is the Director of the American Comedy Institute and the Stand-up Comedy Experience.
