LESLIE OROFINO PREMIERS SUNDAY BRUNCH SEASON AT THE ALGONQUIN

"Hooray for Love," a Celebration of the Life and Lyrics of Dorothy Fields

Singer Leslie Orofino returns to THE ALGONQUIN OAK ROOM (59 West 44th Street, NYC - RESV: 212-419-9331 - http://www.algonquinhotel.com/) with her new show "Hooray for Love," a celebration of the lyricist Dorothy Fields. She will be accompanied by Ross Patterson, her music director, at the piano, John Loehrke on bass and Rex Benincasa on drums. Louis D. Pietig directs the show. Beginning the season of Sunday brunches at the Oak Room on October 5th, with performances on October 12th, 19th & 26th, Ms. Orofino's "Hooray for Love" will begin at 2:00 pm, following a two-course brunch beginning at 12:00 pm. Brunch and music charge is $65.00. The music charge is only $35.00, plus two drink minimum (must be seated by 1:30).

Ms. Orofino, a sophisticated chanteuse with an impassioned approach to her music, has created "Hooray for Love" to honor Dorothy Fields, who wrote lyrics for 19 musicals, lyrics for over 30 movies and close to 500 songs during a career totaling 60 years. She was the first woman to win an Academy Award and also the first woman elected to The Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

Ms. Orofino has long appreciated the lyrics of Dorothy Fields. Her father, Bob McGuire, a professional singer and pianist, taught her as a child about The Great American Songbook. Ms. Orofino thought that Fields' lyrics floating through the household were immensely clever, and when she began singing professionally she always included a Dorothy Fields song in her show. "Hooray for Love" will feature songs such as "The Way You Look Tonight," "Pick Yourself up," "I Won't Dance," "Make The Man Love Me," and "Welcome To Holiday Inn."

Ms. Orofino has presented four shows in the Algonquin's Oak Room, including her most recent sold-out cabaret show "Moonlight Cocktails," which was recorded on her CD of the same name. She has performed at a number of highly regarded venues including The Plaza Hotel, The Waldorf Astoria, Eighty-Eight's, Danny's and The Duplex.

Ms. Orofino has appeared across the country to perform for private parties and special events including a recent benefit for AmeriCares attended by President and Mrs. Bush. Her career includes performances in musical theater ranging from major roles in St. Bart's main stage productions to a starring role in "Niteclub Confidential" at the Westport Country Playhouse.
