MAC/ASCAP
SHOWCASE WITH CHARLES STROUSE ON FEBRUARY 18
There will be a special
MAC/ASCAP Showcase to hear the Songs and Special Material nominated
for this year's MAC Awards on Tuesday evening, February 18th at 6:00
pm, at THE LIGHTHOUSE (111 East 59th Street, NYC). Special guest of
the evening will be Charles Strouse, GRAMMY-Award winning composer
of "Annie," "Bye Bye Birdie" and more. The showcase will be hosted
by Jamie deRoy. Admission is $5 for members of MAC, ASCAP and NARAS,
$15 for the general public. No reservations will be taken, and seating
is on a first-come, first-seated basis.
Unlike the performance
awards, which are chosen by the MAC membership, nominations in these
two categories have been selected by a panel of music-industry and
cabaret professionals, from the CDs and tapes submitted. MAC Members
will be voting for the winners in all categories through the final
ballot, which will be mailed to the membership in March.
Nominees are:
SONG OF THE YEAR:
I Dream in Technicolor
- Carol Hall
If I Told You Now - Jason Robert Brown
If I Was a Boy - Maria Gentile and Caren Cole
Love Like Breathingū- Zina Goldrich and Marcy Heisler
Somedays - Steve Marzullo and James Baldwin
SPECIAL MATERIAL:
Baltimore - Zina Goldrich
and Marcy Heisler
Haiku - Mary Liz McNamara
The Heartbreak Diet - Julie Gold
Sensitive Song - Laurence O'Keefe and Neil Benjamin
You'd Better Say Yes! (To Christmas) - Rick Jensen
The 18th Annual MAC Awards
show will be held at SYMPHONY SPACE (Broadway at 95th Street - 212-864-1414)
on Monday, April 14th at 7:30 pm.
