"Old Postcards" from Audrey Lavine at Mama Rose's

Cabaret and jazz lovers can join Bistro and MAC award winner Audrey Lavine for "something old, something new ... and as always, something blue," six nights in December at MAMA ROSE'S (219 Second Avenue, NYC - 212-533-0558 - http://www.mamaroses.net/). Her new show "Old Postcards" will run Thursday through Saturday, December 4th through 6th at 7:00 pm and Monday through Wednesday, December 15th through 17th at 9:30 pm. Joined once again by Ross Patterson, music director of the "Broadway By the Year" series and longtime Lavine collaborator, Audrey invites audiences to look through her Old Postcards with her, as they provide a window into how our past has informed where we are today and where we're going tomorrow. There is a $15 cover, 2-drink minimum.

Audrey's musical roots were perilously planted in some of the biggest flops in Broadway musical theatre history.š Each of these sometimes controversial shows (who hasn't wondered about a musical based on Stephen King's "Carrie," for starters ...) has left behind a legacy of music that deserves a life beyond closing night. Among the "Old Postcards,"š Audrey finds memorable songs from these short-lived Broadway shows, treasures from the trunks of some of today's most gifted songwriters, and even some favorites from the Great American Songbook.
