The Kitchenettes in DINE At The Plush Room in San Francisco

The Kitchenettes' show DINE, which originally debuted in 2001, is back re-seasoned and all stirred up at San Francisco's prestigious THE PLUSH ROOM at the York Hotel (940 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-885-2800 - http://www.plushroom.com/) on Monday, June 23rd at 8:00 pm. The Kitchenettes - Linda Kosut, Eryka Raines and Lua Hadar - treat the audience to a full spectrum of emotions and styles, from comedic and saucy trios to lyric and soulful solos in DINE: Where Food and Lust Burst Into Song. With musical direction by Barry Lloyd, choreography and staging by Hilary Bryan and direction by Bobby Weinapple, DINE is a show that follows a relationship as though it were a 7-course meal. Tickets are $20 plus 2-drink minimum.

Here's their secret recipe: take one earthy contralto, mix in a flirtatious mezzo, and top off with an impishly glorious soprano. Add tasty arrangements, juicy patter, sprinkle generously with humor and zesty innuendo, and you've got a recipe for cabaret success. Linda Kosut, lush, mouth-filling flavors of toasty oak with a lingering finish Eryka Raines, a frisky nouveau that melds the musky intensity of velvet with an exuberantly spicy finish Lua Hadar, an up-front spumante that begs to be drunk,

DINE showcases the extraordinary individual and collective talents of this stunning trio of San Francisco-based vocal artists :

Lua Hadar has become a presence on the San Francisco cabaret scene since her move here from her native New York City over 10 years ago. Her solo cabaret show, "My Foolish Heart," introduced audiences to the joyousness and ease with which this singer-actress can deliver a wide range of musical styles. Since then, the lush-voiced comedienne has appeared at all of San Francisco's major cabaret venues. Known for her international cabaret repertoire and pure, rich voice, Lua appeared for many weeks at Union Street's Cafe de Paris, following a featured concert at the cabaret festival in Breno, Italy. Lua performed with Barry Lloyd in an all-French cabaret program for the opening of the Palace of the Legion of Honor's exhibit, "Toulouse Lautrec & The Spirit of Montmartre: Cabaret, Humor and the Avant-Garde, 1875-1905." Together with Linda Kosut, she is the producer and host of Thick Tuesdays, a salon for cabaret singers and their audiences. The Kitchenettes also perform at Club Pao PachaMama in San Francisco's North Beach on the first Thursday of every month in their revue, "Come & Get It!"

Linda Kosut moved to the San Francisco Bay Area over 15 years ago from her native New York City where she began her cabaret career at the former Jan Wallman's in the Village, among other cabaret venues. A smoky contralto, Linda is a stylish, moving and entertaining performer. Her show "Mister Kicks," delighted audiences with the array of musical styles and emotions she delivers in her performance. She is best known for her passionate and interpretive skill with lyrics and the "story" song. Linda has performed in all of San Francisco's major cabaret venues and, together with Lua Hadar, produced and performed "It's My Party: a cabaret souffle in the key of Now!" at the Larkspur Cafe Theatre and at The White Barn Theatre in St. Helena. Linda's solo CD will be released in July 2003. Linda is a 1990 Fellow of the Cabaret Symposium of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center.

Eryka Raines is an actress and singer, who has performed as a soloist with the Boston Pops, and as Antonia in The Man of La Mancha. She has worked with numerous theater companies including The San Jose Repertory Theatre, The American Conservatory Theater, and San Francisco's critically acclaimed Word for Word Performing Arts Company. Classically trained, she has also performed as Papagena in the Magic Flute and Mama Lucia in Cavallaria Rusticana. Eryka has received a Bay Area Critic's Circle for Stories by Tobias Wolff and is a graduate of the Boston Conservatory.

Barry Lloyd, Musical Director, is a veteran cabaret artist. He has been a leading musical figure in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 25 years as accompanist to such cabaret stars as Ruth Hastings, Sharon McNight, Nancy LaMott, Michael Greer, Raquel Bitton, Charles Pierce, and many others. He was also private accompanist to Miss Mary Martin during her residence in San Francisco. Mr. Lloyd is a graduate of both the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.). Known primarily as a pianist/ accompanist, Mr. Lloyd is also an accomplished actor, singer, arranger and composer. An avid aficionado of Cole Porter's music, Barry recently performed his shows "A Swell Party" and "Let's Fly Away: A Romp Around the World on the Wings of Cole Porter," both with his trio at San Francisco's Plush Room. Barry will also be performing "Singing Hart" along with his Cole Porter shows, in A Month of Sundays at the Plush Room in August, 2003.

The Kitchenettes were semi-finalists in the San Francisco 2003 Cabaret Competition, Ensemble Category. They will be seen at The Gardenia in Los Angeles, July 7, 2003, and at the Festival of The Shaman & The Showman in Italy this September. In April 2003, The Kitchenettes premiered the new version of DINE at Napa's Copia: The American Center for Wine, Food & The Arts, to critical acclaim.
