MICHAEL RICHARD KELLY DEBUTS AT DANNY'S

Michael Richard Kelly will make his cabaret debut at DANNY'S SKYLIGHT ROOM (342 West 46th Street, NYC - 1-212-265-8133 - http://www.dannysgrandseapalace.com/) on Friday, May 30th at 9:15 pm. The show "I Sing For My Father," is a musical Father's Day card for his father, Leon E. Kelly, with extra postage for the trip. It includes songs that his father sang, and songs, mostly standards, that Mr. Kelly would have wanted his father to hear if he were still alive. Accompanied by musical director Ellen Starr on piano, they will be joined by bass and drums. The cover is $12 with a $10 food/drink minimum.

Mr. Kelly's father was a radio broadcaster from 1938 until he died in 1982, and he sang with bands in the 30s & 40s, so young Michael grew up listening to the Great American Songbook. "I Sing For My Father" will include "Where or When," "I Thought About You," "How Deep Is The Ocean?", and Betty Hutton's "Doctor, Lawyer, Indian Chief" among others. They really SWING "I Wish I Were In Love Again" and "Oh! Look At Me Now." Also included are the two songs that his father sang, "Moonlight In Vermont" and "East of The Sun." Mr. Kelly shares stories about growing up in the spotlight, and finds humor and compassion in dealing with the loss.

Michael Richard Kelly has been singing professionally since he was 17. He has performed in "Forbidden Broadway" in Philadelphia, and Fran Charnas's "The All Night Strut," a 30s & 40s review, in Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Monte Carlo, Detroit, Denver, Cleveland, and LA, as well as numerous regional theaters up and down the East Coast. He did his first solo cabaret show at THE CABARET at Odette's (South River Road, New Hope, PA - 215-862-3000 - http://www.odettes.com/) the first season they had cabaret, and went on to do ten more shows there over the last 16 years. For the last 15 years Michael has sold advertising for a newspaper, been a college student, become a certified diamontologist, owned a pet boutique, and became a realtor in Philadelphia, all on his way to this show, at age 40.
