Marilyn Harris Returns to NYC After 20 Years
Marilyn
Harris returns to NYC for her first performance after 20 years as
part of the Vocal Series hosted by Judi Silvano at THE CORNELIA ST.
CAFE (29 Cornelia Street, NYC - 212-989-9318) on Friday, May 9th with
sets at 9:00 & 10:30 pm. There is a $10 cover charge.
Originally from New York,
composer and lyricist, Marilyn Harris, studied with Hale Smith and
worked extensively with arranger Gil Evans before moving to Los Angeles.
Her songs have been recorded by jazz vocalists Anne Marie Moss, Jackie
Paris and Diane Hubka but you can hear her play and sing her wonderful
songs along with guest singers Carol Heffler, her sister Linda Harris
with Pat Monahan (both of the "Swingirls" group) & Judi Silvano plus
Richard Crooks (drums) and Stu Woods (bass).
Marilyn has some great
new songs plus her repertoire of catchy and clever songs from her
book! She not only writes, sings and plays piano, but she is also
a great lyricist.
