Morris & Morath Salute Harburg at Lortel Theatre

William Bolcom, Joan Morris
and Max Morath will present "Over the Rainbow: Music to the Lyrics
of E.Y. Harburg," Friday through Sunday, June 20th, 21st, and 22nd,
at the Off-Broadway LUCILLE LORTEL THEATRE (121 Christopher Street,
NYC - Tele-Charge: 212-239-6200 - http://www.telecharge.com/).
They will sing songs written by E. Y. Harburg (Wizard of Oz, Finian's
Rainbow) with Harold Arlen, Sammy Fain, Jule Styne, Burton Lane, Vernon
Duke, etc. Performances are Fridays at 8:00 pm, Saturdays at 2:00
& 8:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00 & 7:00 pm. Single Tickets are $35 for
Saturdays at 8:00 pm; all other performances $30.
Bolcom (composer, "A View
from the Bridge," performed by The Metropolitan Opera last December),
Morris (mezzo-soprano) and Morath (singer, pianist, author) are devotees
of Harburg's life and work, fascinated especially by his successful
collaborations with major Broadway and Hollywood composers.
The cabaret show is produced
by Lucille Lortel's famed WHITE BARN THEATRE, Westport, Connecticut,
a summer venue designed to develop new works. It was founded by Ms.
Lortel in 1947.It is currently undergoing renovations requiring productions
to move into Ms. Lortel's New York venue.
