"Hey,
That's My Cake!" in Two Benefit Performances
"Hey, That's My Cake!"
makes a special return engagement to THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61
Christopher Street, NYC - 1-212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/)
for two special performances benefiting AIDS Walk New York. This limited
engagement reunites Vinnie Costa and Tom Privitere for a special serving
of their musical review. The show will be presented on Sundays, May
4th & 11th at 11:00 pm. Suggested donation is $10.00, plus a 2-drink
minimum.
The show, now in its third
incarnation, brings the performers back to the club where the piece
was originally presented. The duo originally conceived of "Cake!"
in the days following September 11. Deciding that the time of "we
ought to" was over and "we will" had begun, the two long-time friends
began to weave their confection. A dash of Barbra, a pinch of Liza
and a sprinkle of Ethel later, the boys baked up a cabaret. Turning
Broadway into Vaudeville, the 75-minute laugh-fest celebrates friendship;
the twosome provides good-natured barbs, friendly ribbing and exquisite
fashion sense.
Tom Privitere, hailing
from the musical theatre, and Vinnie Costa, with a background in stand-up
comedy, make a perfect team. Considered miniature versions of Frank
DeCaro and Nathan Lane, the two draw inspiration from the buddy teams
of classic comedy (like Abbot and Costello, or Lewis and Martin, just
gayer.)
