"BROADWAY BY THE YEAR" CASTS ANNOUNCED FOR FINAL SHOWS OF SEASON

The next show in the critically acclaimed "Broadway by the Year" series, which features "The Broadway Musicals of 1960," has just announced its cast. This hot new series at THE TOWN HALL (123 West 43rd Street, NYC - http://www.the-townhall-nyc.org/), created, written, and hosted by Scott Siegel, stars Brent Barrett (Olivier nominee for KISS ME KATE), Marc Kudisch (Tony nominee for THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE), Tovah Feldshuh (Three-time Tony nominee and this year's Solo Show Drama Desk winner for GOLDA'S BALCONY), Liz Larsen (Tony nominee for MOST HAPPY FELLA), Lisa Vroman (currently starring as Christine in PHANTOM OF THE OPERA), Eddie Korbich (Obie Award winner), and Douglas Ladnier (acclaimed cabaret artist). Siegel will draw songs that were born on Broadway in 1960 from such musicals as BYE BYE BIRDIE, CAMELOT, GREENWILLOW, THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN, IRMA LA DOUCE, DO RE MI, and more. This show takes place at 8:00 pm on Monday, June 9th. The Town Hall box office is open from noon to 6:00 pm every day but Sunday and tickets are also available at TicketMaster: 212-307-4100. Remaining seats are available at $40 and $37.50.

The New York Times has often compared Siegel's "Broadway by the Year" series to Encores! No wonder. The upcoming 1960 show stars some of Encores! most heralded headliners, including Brent Barrett and Marc Kudisch, both of whom appeared in productions at City Center earlier this season. And critics continue to sing the praises of "Broadway by the Year," including Robert Daniels of Variety who wrote, "The sold-out series has become a Gotham hot ticket; this is (Siegel's) ninth concert in three years." And Andy Propst of American Theater Web wrote, "The 'Broadway by the Year' series continues to be one of the shining jewels of the city's rich musical theater life, giving audiences the rare opportunity to hear the well-known sung alongside the unfamiliar in a broad historical context."

Siegel continues to mix Broadway musical theater stars with cabaret artists, this time casting Douglas Ladnier who performed extensively at Eighty Eights and The FireBird while also appearing in Jekyll & Hyde on Broadway. Ladnier returns to Town Hall after stopping the show with his rendition of "Lost in the Stars" during Siegel's World Cabaret series production of "Once in a Weill" earlier this season. Then, of course, there is the casting coup of Tovah Feldshuh who is well-known to cabaret-goers and who is currently starring in her acclaimed, three-times extended Off-Broadway smash "Golda's Balcony."

For the first time ever, one of the Broadway by the Year shows will be repeated. This season's first entry, "The Broadway Musicals of 1925," which originally took place on the night of The Blizzard of '03, will be "revived" on Monday, June 23rd at 8:00 pm at THE TOWN HALL (123 West 43rd Street, NYC - http://www.the-townhall-nyc.org/). Three of the original five cast members will return, including Nancy Anderson, Justin Bohon, and Walker Jones. Joining the cast will be Martin Vidnovic and another new player (yet to be cast). Siegel is proud to announce that the CD version of the original concert has just been released on Bayview Records and can be purchased at http://www.footlight.com/. The Town Hall box office is open from noon to 6:00 pm every day but Sunday and tickets are also available at TicketMaster: 212-307-4100. Remaining seats for this show are available as well at $40 and $37.50.
