Own Words" is a 50-minute theatrical revue which shares the experiences
of one community in New York City after the events of 9/11 is the
result of the efforts of a group of professional artists from the
Church of St. Paul & St. Andrew. This piece combines new music for
violin, cello and piano by composer, Jill Jaffe, along with spirituals,
musical theater, folk rock and modern dance which have been integrated
with these interviews to weave a poignant and memorable journey.
These interviews were
conducted by Sarah Brockus, Annie Evans, Barbara Grecki and Charlotte
Patton, members of the congregation, who then created the theatrical
format for these stories to be told. Performances were held in December,
February and June and the audience responses have always been that
of a shared hopefulness and healing.
