TOM WOPAT KICKS OFF NEW CABARET AT THE CHASE SERIES AT NJPAC

Longtime heartthrob Tom Wopat, will open the new "Cabaret at the Chase" series at The Chase Room at the NEW JERSEY PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (One Center Street, Newark, NJ - 888-466-5722 - http://www.njpac.org) on Saturday, October 12th at 7:30 pm. Tom is accompanied by a trio, with Ted Firth on piano, Don Kasper on bass and Peter Grant on drums. Tickets are $36.

Mr. Wopat has had a long and varied career. He is best known for his work on television as Luke Duke on the hit series "The Dukes of Hazard," and on the successful "Cybill" and "Home Improvement" series. On Broadway, he played the Tony-nominated role of Frank Butler in the Broadway production of "Annie Get Your Gun," is a veteran of "Guys and Dolls" and "City of Angels," and is currently playing the gruff and demonstrative Broadway director Julian Marsh in the Tony Award-winning revival of "42nd Street." Off Broadway, he recently portrayed the Fire Captain in Ann Nelson's two-character play about 9/11, "The Guys," opposite Amy Irving.

In recent years he has reinvented himself as a first-rate crooner. Last year he performed a very well received solo show at Arci's Place in New York City. His NJPAC performance will include songs from his debut album, "The Still of the Night," on Angel Records. Tom reworks some of the greatest songwriters' compositions about the mysteries of love, longing, passion and loss. Among the composers represented include works by Harold Arlen, Hoagy Carmichael, Frank Loesser, Cole Porter and Stephen Sondheim.

NJPAC's "Cabaret at the Chase" recreates the intimate setting of a cabaret with bistro-style table seating as well as a cash bar and other refreshments available for purchase. "Cabaret at the Chase" is made possible through the generosity of the Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation.
