Ciro's and Blue Pumpkin Productions Collaborate, Present Vaudeville Cabaret in April

The new owner/management team at CIRO'S RESTAURANT (Woonsocket, RI - 401-762-9567) will launch an old fashioned 'two-a-day' vaudeville cabaret called "2 Vaudevillians," as a trial balloon for a limited engagement this April. The show will be presented as a dinner and show package on three Sundays: April 7th, 14th, and 21st, at 12:30 and 6:00 pm. Audiences will enjoy a complete dinner, followed by the show. The dinner plus "2 Vaudevillians" package is $29.95 per person and includes dinner, tax and gratuity, plus the cabaret. Dinner seating is at 12:30 pm for a 2:00 pm show and 6:00 pm for a 7:30 pm show. The shows on April 7th and 14th will feature Trish Aponte. Barbara Reierson Guertin will take the stage on April 21st. Ciro's also offers special rates for groups.

The cabaret concert, created and directed by Marc P. Smith, features alternating female vocalists Trish Aponte and Barbara Reierson Guertin plus Bill Taylor on piano and vocals. Aponte is currently receiving rave reviews for her performance in Worcester Foothills Theatre's production of "Chicago." Reierson Guertin and Taylor have each worked in prior years with Smith in several critically acclaimed productions at Foothills Theatre. Among Reierson Guertin's Foothills credits: "The Great American Backstage Musical" and "Anastasia," in which she portrayed the title role. Taylor was featured in "HMS Pinafore" and most recently in "Ten Little Indians."

As artistic director and co-founder of Foothills, Smith was also well-known for his dedication to the vaudeville heritage and for the many offerings of revues featuring the music and comedy of that fabulous era.

"2 Vaudevillians," with its engaging duo of performers, brings audiences favorites from the American songbook along with re-discovered treasures of comedy, all from the vaudeville era around the turn of the last century. They put a distinctive spin on such favorites as "Alexander's Ragtime Band," "Second Hand Rose," and "I Love a Piano" while also treating audiences to wonderful less-known gems such as "I'm Looking For Something to Eat," "She Forgot to Bring Him Back," and "You'd Be Surprised."

Blue Pumpkin Productions, the new company formed by Marc Smith and his wife Susan upon their retirement from 25 years at the helm of Foothills Theatre, has also produced vaudeville cabarets for two summers in the Berkshires in Lenox, MA. These revues drew rave notices as did the various vaudeville shows produced during the Foothills years.
