A Showcase for New York's Most Exciting Songwriters at THE DUPLEX

Some of New York's finest songwriting talent spotlighted Thursdays in December.

Featuring performers Sue Gilad, Christopher Graves, Jamie McGonnigal and Rebecca Soler, with musical direction from Jeff Whiting, "IN THE WORKS ..." will be presented at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/) on Thursdays, December 5th, 12th and 19th at 7:00 pm. Admission is $10 plus a 2-drink minimum.æ A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales as well as sales of CDs and music by the composers will be used to benefit BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS (http://www.bcefa.org/).

Under the direction of up and coming director Stephen Nachamie, whose most recent work includes regional productions of WEST SIDE STORY and this season's star-studded FUNNY GIRL Benefit, "IN THE WORKS ..." will include world premieres of songs by David Friedman (who is perhaps best known for his work with the legendary Nancy LaMott, as well as composing hits such as "Listen to My Heart," and the BC/EFA Anthem "Help is on the Way"). "IN THE WORKS ..." will also feature songs by Zina Goldrich & Marcy Heisler ("Taylor," and "The Alto's Lament"), Lynn Portas & Dan Clancy (108 Waverly), as well as new writers currently in the BMI/Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, Pat Rasile (currently workshopping 30 Something Something for Ensemble Studio Theatre), and Brian Cimmet & Erich Goldstein, who most recently had a reading of their piece, "Absolutely Anything" for the Broadway Theatre Institute.
