Showcase for New York's Most Exciting Songwriters at THE DUPLEX

Some of New York's
finest songwriting talent spotlighted Thursdays in December.
Featuring performers Sue
Gilad, Christopher Graves, Jamie McGonnigal and Rebecca Soler, with
musical direction from Jeff Whiting, "IN THE WORKS ..." will be presented
at THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438
- http://www.theduplex.com/)
on Thursdays, December 5th, 12th and 19th at 7:00 pm. Admission is
$10 plus a 2-drink minimum.æ A portion of the proceeds from ticket
sales as well as sales of CDs and music by the composers will be used
to benefit BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS (http://www.bcefa.org/).
Under the direction of
up and coming director Stephen Nachamie, whose most recent work includes
regional productions of WEST SIDE STORY and this season's star-studded
FUNNY GIRL Benefit, "IN THE WORKS ..." will include world premieres
of songs by David Friedman (who is perhaps best known for his work
with the legendary Nancy LaMott, as well as composing hits such as
"Listen to My Heart," and the BC/EFA Anthem "Help is on the Way").
"IN THE WORKS ..." will also feature songs by Zina Goldrich & Marcy
Heisler ("Taylor," and "The Alto's Lament"), Lynn Portas & Dan Clancy
(108 Waverly), as well as new writers currently in the BMI/Lehman
Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, Pat Rasile (currently workshopping
30 Something Something for Ensemble Studio Theatre), and Brian Cimmet
& Erich Goldstein, who most recently had a reading of their piece,
"Absolutely Anything" for the Broadway Theatre Institute.
