"CAROL
CHANNING" (SORT OF) RETURNS TO THE PLUSH ROOM
On
Sunday, July 21st at 3:00 pm and Monday, July 22nd at 8:00 pm, Richard
Skipper, one of the most respected and acclaimed celebrity singer/actor/impersonators
will bring his famous show,"AN EVENING WITH CAROL CHANNING" to THE
PLUSH ROOM at the York Hotel (940 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA
- 415-885-2800 - http://www.plushroom.com/).
Mr. Skipper will have San Francisco's very own Ben Prince on piano,
and Bruce Phillips as special guest. There is a $25.00 cover charge.
AN EVENING WITH CAROL
CHANNING is a fully staged and choreographed, 90-minute musical montage
celebrating the career and persona of this unique, theatrical legend.
Blending Channing standards, such as, "Hello Dolly," with original
material and other familiar songs sung by Skipper in his powerful
Broadway voice, the musical evening surveys Channing's life with many
stops along the way for Skipper's unique--and riotous--"ad-lib" interactions
with the audience.
Mr. Skipper is a two time
recipient of the MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabaret) Award for
"Outstanding Achievement in Impersonation"and the Backstage Bistro
award for best performer. He was named as one of the Top Ten Cabaret
Performers of 1997 by the Cabaret Hotline and as "one of the Top of
the Century Premiere Cabaret Acts" by Cabaret Scenes Magazine.
Skipper returns to the
Plush Room after recent engagements at various venues throughout the
East Coast , the Ontario Hilton and Washington DC's Mimi's. In each
of those venues, he has played to sold-out houses and received outstanding
reviews. Mr. Skipper and the actual Carol Channing recently shared
a stage together at THE PALACE OF FINE ARTS in February in concert
with The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus.
