2002 MAC Nominee Marcus Simeone Extends "Mostly Standards" at The Duplex

Marcus Simeone, 2002 MAC nominee (Outstanding Male Vocalist), extends his all new show, "Mostly Standards," at THE DUPLEX (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/) on four Sundays beginning on Fathers's Day, June 16th at 4:00 pm. Subsequent shows are on July 7th, 14th & 28th at 6:00 pm. D. Jay Bradley is musical director for this special engagement at one of New York's hallmark clubs. Lina Koutrakos is Director. There will be a $10 music charge and a 2-drink minimum.

In his new show, Marcus lends his haunting, multi-octave voice to classics he grew up with from the great American songbook as well as some newer songs that are part of his musical life today. Acclaimed for his heartfelt interpretations of contemporary, jazz and pop songs, the show will also introduce his audience to his musical roots and some newer songs that are finding their place in the songbook of the 21st century. The show features songs from legendary composers such as Irving Berlin, Johnny Mercer, Henry Mancini and Richard Rodgers.

His recent run at DANNY'S SKYLIGHT ROOM, with the acclaimed show, "Daydreams," introduced him to many luminaries and new fans from the cabaret and theater community. Ultimately, he received his first MAC nomination as Outstanding Male Vocalist by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs.

A veteran jazz-pop singer for over ten years with various bands in the tri-state area, Brooklyn- born Marcus has built an enthusiastic following of fans touched by his sensitive interpretations of songs from the heart. Frequently compared to the likes of Al Jarreau and Johnny Mathis, he was a finalist on "Star Search" and appeared on NBC-TV's "Showtime at The Apollo."
