Steve Ross stars in "Strictly Rodgers, Mostly Hart" at Symphony Space

Cabaret legend Steve Ross stars in "Strictly Rodgers, Mostly Hart," a cabaret concert celebrating the Richard Rodgers centennial, on Friday, May 3rd, at 7:00 and 9:30 pm at the LEONARD NIMOY THALIA at SYMPHONY SPACE (Broadway at 95th Street - 212-864-5400). His special guests will be Tom Andersen and Klea Blackhurst. Tickets are $25.

Ross rose to fame as a cabaret entertainer in the late 1970s, playing New York's fabled Algonquin Hotel and Ted Hook's BackStage. He has performed around the world, from Carnegie Hall in Manhattan to the Ritz in London to the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs (MAC) voted him Outstanding Singer-Instrumentalist. In 1992, Ross made his Off-Broadway debut in "I Won't Dance," his tribute to Fred Astaire, and in 1996, he made his Broadway debut in Noel Coward's "Present Laughter," starring Frank Langella. Ross has appeared many times at the FireBird Cafe and headlined at Pizza in the Park in London. He continues to tour in cabarets, master classes and pops concerts.

Andersen is a five-time MAC Award winner for his singing, songwriting and recording. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Weill Recital Hall, Tavern on the Green, the Algonquin and the FireBird Cafe. Andersen also has two acclaimed CDs to his credit: "Far Away Places" and "The Journey."

Blackhurst is the 2002 MAC Award winner for Outstanding Female Vocalist. She received rave reviews for her cabaret tribute to Ethel Merman, "Everything the Traffic Will Allow," at Danny's Skylight Room and the Jack Rose. Blackhurst also appeared Off-Broadway in "Oil City Symphony" and "Radio Gals."
