Stan Martin and Julius La Rosa to Host "Radio Days, Part I" at 92nd STREET Y


Lyrics & Lyricists at the 92nd St. Y (92nd Street at Lexington Avenue, NYC - 212-415-5500 - http://www.92ndsty.org/) presents the first installment of "Radio Days - Music in the Air" on Saturday, May 4th at 8:00 pm, Sunday May 5th at 2:30 & 8:00 pm & Monday, May 6th at 2:00 & 8:00 p.m. Former radio personalities Stan Martin and Julius La Rosa host the show, which features songs from the jazz age to the swing era (1920-1940). Tickets are $40.

Featured in the cast are Nina Hennessey (CATS, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA); B.J. Crosby (TONY nominee for SMOKEY JOE'S CAFÄ and appeared more recently in ONE MO' TIME); the three-woman vocal group String Of Pearls (Jeanne O'Connor, Sue Halloran and Holly Ross); five-time MAC Award winner Phillip Officer (also appeared in SIDESHOW); Bill Nolte (1776, JANE EYRE); and singer/trombonist Gerard Carelli.

Stan Martin, cohost, is a former on-air personality and program director of the New York City radio stations WNEW and WQEW, which championed the American songbook for decades. Cohost Julius La Rosa was a recording and television star in the 1950s, famous for his version of "Eh, Cumpari." He was also a radio host on WNEW during the 1970s and 1980s. Ron Drotos is the musical director and pianist. L&L closes the season June 8-10 with the second installment of Radio Days, a look at music on the airwaves from World War II through the postwar era and the birth of rock'n'roll (1940-1955).
