Two familiar radio voices host this edition of L&L. For many years, Jim Lowe was an on-air personality and program director at the legendary New York radio station WNEW, which brought American popular music to the airwaves for more than 50 years. Lowe was also a 1950s singing sensation whose 1956 hit record, "Green Door," knocked Elvis Presley out of the number one slot on the pop music charts. Lowe is currently host of the nationally syndicated radio program "Jim Lowe and Friends."

Michael Bourne has been on the air at WBGO-FM, New York's award-winning jazz station, for 17 years. He is voice of the popular Sunday morning show "Singers Unlimited" and the station's current afternoon host; he recently received the prestigious Willis Conover-Marian McPartland Award for Excellence in Jazz Broadcasting from the Jazz Journalists Association. In addition to broadcasting, Bourne is a senior contributor for Downbeat magazine and has a doctorate in theatre from Indiana University.

The 92nd Street Y welcomes singer and comedienne Marilyn Michaels, who starred as Fanny Brice in the first national touring company of "Funny Girl," as a special guest at L&L this month, along with Peter Howard, the celebrated Broadway conductor, musical director, pianist and dance music arranger whose credits include CHICAGO, FOSSE, MY FAIR LADY and HELLO DOLLY. Howard will perform songs associated with the piano-playing band leaders of the 1940s, including Eddy Duchin, Carmen Cavallaro, Frankie Carle and Francis Craig.

L&L's cast this month features the Manhattan Rhythm Kings, a three-man song and dance group specializing in music from the 1920s, ï30s and ï40s, who starred on Broadway in CRAZY FOR YOU. Also in the L&L cast are: cabaret singer Charles Cermele, who was named Outstanding Male Vocalist of 1998 by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC), Hillary Kole, a young singer, pianist and composer currently appearing in the highly acclaimed show "Our Sinatra;" Terry Burrell, who has appeared on Broadway in SWINGING ON A STAR, INTO THE WOODS, DREAM GIRLS and EUBIE; and longtime L&L veteran Ty Stephens, who starred on Broadway in SOPHISTICATED LADIES and MARILYN. D. Jay Bradley is L&L's music director this month.
