Osburn Trailblazer Awards Given In Chicago November 4th
Lampkin
Music Group in association with Bailiwick Arts Center presents the
2002 Larry Osburn Trailblazer Awards on Monday, November 4th at the
MERCURY THEATER (3745 North Southport Avenue, Chicago, IL - Tickets:
773-883-1090) The cocktail reception begins at 6:00 pm, followed by
a silent auction and awards ceremony. Tickets are $50.00 and can be
purchased at the Bailiwick Box Office. Entertainment for this special
evening will include After Dark Award winner Beckie Menzie, critically
acclaimed vocalist Tom Michael, dance diva Robin Kay, Alanda Coon,
and award winning actor/composer McKinley Johnson.
The Trailblazer Awards
are given in honor of Larry Osburn to members and friends of the Gay/Lesbian'Bisexual/Transgendered
community whose work and lives have moved this community forward in
the areas of sports, culture, journalism and community affairs.
This year's award recipents
include:
Bill Zwecker - Chicago
Sun-Times and Fox TV commentator
Michael Bauer - Political Activist
Joel Hall - Artistic Director of Joel Hall Dancers
Terri Hummert - WXRT DJ and Music Historian
Honorable Jan Schakowsky, Congresswoman 9th Congressional District.
Past Recipients have included:
Claudia Allen, Greg Louganis,
Alexandra Billings, Lawrence Boomer, E. Lynn Harris, Don Landers,
Achy Obejas, Dorothy Tanner.
