ARCI'S
PLACE Debuts Melba Moore "Once More with Love"

AT ARCI'S PLACE MARCH
20th through MARCH 30ths
Melba
Moore becomes the latest Tony Award-winning diva extraordinaire to
grace the stage at ARCI'S PLACE (450 Park Avenue South, NYC - 212-532-4370
- http://www.arcisplace.com/).
Melba makes her cabaret debut in "Once More with Love" which will
run for ten performances only from March 20th through March 30th -
Wednesdays through Fridays at 8:00 pm and Saturdays at 8:30 and 11:00
pm. (The performance on March 20th will begin at 9:00 pm). Known for
her astonishing five-octave range, Melba will include standards by
Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Harold Arlen, as she traces her amazing
career highs as well as her much publicized lows. No Melba Moore show
would be complete without a "Hair" medley (she was in the original
cast) or her inimitable performance of "I Got Love" from her Tony
winning performance in "Purlie." Ms. Moore will be accompanied by
The Levi Barcout Trio.
Melba Moore began her
career as a backup singer for Valerie Simpson, Nick Ashford, Aretha
Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Liza Minnelli and Patti Austin. She was
in the ground-breaking rock musical HAIR, where she originated the
role of Dionne. During her 18 months with the show she played a variety
of roles and eventually, as one critic described it "changed the color
of HAIR" by becoming the first black actress to replace a white actress
(Diane Keaton) in the female lead in a Broadway show. From HAIR came
the role of Lutiebelle, the innocent Southern domestic who falls in
love with a fast-talking preacher, in the long-running musical "PURLIE."
Melba's show-stopping performance in "PURLIE" won her the Tony Award
for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical. She was also honored with
the prestigious Drama Desk and New York Drama Critics Award.
Melba has performed at
New York's Waldorf-Astoria, the Riviera, Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas,
The Cannes Film Festival, the Olympia Theatre in Paris, and in a nationwide
tour of the best concert and symphony halls, and the poshest hotels
and supper clubs. Melba's big R&B hits include "I Am His Lady," "Falling,"
and the Grammy Award nominated "Read My Lips."
Melba's 1990 recording
of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" was instrumental in having the song
entered into the Congressional Record as the official African-American
National Anthem. In 2002, she's back with a new version.
In 1996, Melba returned
to the stage when she took over the role of Fantine in the milestone
Broadway production of "LES MISERABLES."
Melba has embarked on
yet another adventure by releasing her first recording in 12 years
entitled "I'm Still Here." The project features the writing and production
talents of Herb Middleton, Dale DeGroat and Shirley Murdock. "I'm
Still Here" is musical testimony to Ms. Moore's trials and triumphant
return to the world of entertainment. Melba is a co-founder of HUSH,
an organization that manages single artists with careers spanning
all areas of entertainment.
