Martha Lorin's most recent
critical acclaim comes from BROADway, an evening of jazz versions
of Broadway songs with Trudi Mann and Jane Scheckter. Inspired by
BROADway, Martha is currently working on a new CD called "Blues Over
Broadway" to be released in 2003. Prior to this Martha received national
critical praise for her CD "Come Walk With Me," steeped in the great
tradition of Chicago music. Her other CDs include "A Celebration of
Ella - Martha Lorin Sings The Ella Fitzgerald Songbook" (Cabaret Records
1995), recorded with Paul Smith, Ella's former pianist, for which
she received a 1996 Back Stage Bistro Award for Outstanding Recording
and a MAC Award nomination for Outstanding Jazz Vocalist;" The Time
Is Now" (Carmel Records 1993), and her debut "The Best Is Yet To Come"
(1980). As a songwriter Martha recently received Honorable Mention
for all three of her entries "Come Walk With Me," "We Two" and "Out
Of The Blue,"" from Billboard Magazine's 7th Annual Song Contest.
