NO MONKEY BUSINESS! GRAND OPENING OF THE NEW 30s-INSPIRED NIGHTCLUB
AND COCKTAIL LOUNGE

KING KONG ROOM OPENS
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18th AT THE SUPPER CLUB
The
brainchild of renowned producer and party-planner Lionel Casseroux,
the KING KONG ROOM at the Supper Club (240 West 47th Street, NYC -
212-921-1940 - http://www.KingKongRoom.com/)
is a chic new nightspot for the ultimate evening out. The room features
dœcor in the spirit of 1930s elegance, along with live nightly entertainment
at the baby grand by jazz great Dayton "Papa D." Selby and a rotating
series of surprise guest performers. The room opens on Monday, November
18th. Regular business hours are Monday through Friday starting at
4:30 pm. There is no cover charge.
The KING KONG ROOM has
been designed as an intimate venue, perfect for special events, private
parties or an intimate evening for two. Guests can feast on fun, flavorful
dishes by Chef Mark Melillo (formerly of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel)
like the "Skull Island Sate," a beef and chicken javelin appetizer
with peanut sauce, and the "Tropical Pie," a thin-crust pizza complete
with black olive King Kong footprints. "The Tropical Headdress," a
cinnamon crumb biscuit topped with tropical fruit, is one of the many
desserts that ends any meal on a sweet note. Specialty drinks like
the sexy-sour Fay Wray and the romantically fruity Kong Passion for
Two (served in a tiki bowl) will transform the room into a tropical
rainforest. Welcome to the jungle!
Artistic Director Lionel
Casseroux originally opened THE SUPPER CLUB (formerly the Edison Ballroom
where Doris Day made her big band debut) in 1991 with French entrepreneur
Jean Denoyer, quickly establishing it as one of the Big Apple's hot
spots. His flare for the creative continues after producing high-profile
events for the likes of Diana Ross, Chita Rivera, Tito Puente, Melba
Moore, Lena Horne, and RuPaul. His production company L.C.P. (Lionel
Casseroux Productions) produced French artist Regine in her 1995 one-woman
show "La Boule au Plafond," amongst other projects.
Entertainer extraordinaire
Dayton "Papa D." Selby has established himself as an international
Supper Club artist, appearing in the leading hotels and clubs around
the world. Listed in the International Who's Who of Musicians, he
served as musical director for Mom's Mabley from 1968-69 and back-up
for Gloria Lynn, Dinah Washington, and Sam Cooke. Artist Mark Gagnon's
colorful and whimsical murals of Mr. Kong and Ms. Wray atop the Chrystler
Building grace the walls of the KING KONG ROOM. His illustrations
have appeared in the pages of The New Yorker, Harper's, and Visionaire.
