UK CABARET STAR BARB JUNGR BRINGS BOB DYLAN SHOW TO NEW YORK

London's Queen of cabaret, Barb Jungr makes her New York debut with an exclusive limited run at THE FLEA THEATER (41 White Street, NYC - SmartTix at 212-206-1515) from September 24th through October 13th, Tuesdays through Sunday evenings. Barb will be accompanied by New York pianist and accordionist Charlie Giordano. Show time is 9:30 pm and the ticket price is $20.00.

The singer, composer, arranger, raconteur, ethno-musicologist and theater director has carved out a unique musical niche that regularly leaves critics scrabbling for reference points. From her early days on London's alternative cabaret circuit, the first woman to win the prestigious Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe festival has dominated the British and increasingly international cabaret scene with her unique approach to material and performances. Sold-out crowds have packed Britain's cabaret clubs to see her chansons interpretations of master songsmith Bob Dylan's repertoire and her devastating performance re-contextualizes Dylan up there with the best - Brel, Prœvert, Ferrœ.

Barb's current release, "Every Grain of Sand - Barb Jungr sings Bob Dylan," will be available in the U.S. on Allegro on September 3rd. Her previous album was the acclaimed "Chanson : The Space In Between" which saw Barb interpreting the songs of Jacques Brel with new English translations. The album was cited by The London Sunday Times as one of the Top Ten Jazz CDs of 2000 and is also available in the U.S.
