James Makes New York Solo Cabaret Debut

Robin
James, a frequent soloist with the New Amsterdam Singers over the
past twelve years, presents her solo cabaret debut at DON'T TELL MAMA
(343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/),
on Saturday, May 18th at 8:00 pm and Wednesday, May 22nd at 7:00 pm.
Accompanying Ms. James is multi-MAC Award-winning musical director
Dick Gallagher, frequent accompanist of Patti Lupone and Karen Akers,
among many others. The show is directed by Helen Baldassare. There
is a $10 cover, two-drink minimum.
Ms. James is particularly
familiar with the French cabaret repertoire, singing songs of Edith
Piaf, Jacques Brel and other well-loved Gallic songwriters.æ Her show
is a balance of songs of love, longing and levity includes selections
by George Gershwin and Hoagy Carmichael, Broadway and novelty numbers,
and some unpublished surprises.
