Foreman Returns with Her "Lessons Learned"
Daphne
Foreman returns to the cabaret stage with a new show, "Lessons Learned,"
at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/)
the Thursdays in November (except Thanksgiving), November 7th, 14th,
and 21st, all shows at 7:00 pm. There is a $15 cover charge and a
2-drink minimum.
With musical direction
by Paul Trueblood, "Lessons Learned" features Daphne and Paul's usual
hearty mix of standards, not-so-standards, and a lot of musical theatre.
Cy Coleman and Richard Rodgers are represented by two songs each,
among contributions from ten songwriting teams and six solo songwriters.
Every decent musical has
its book; this show has two, both written by men named Phil: Phil
Ressner, author of the children's book "Dudley Pippin," and TV's Dr.
Phil, author of "Self Matters." In a nutshell, we live and we learn,
and this show celebrates that.
"Lessons Learned," Daphne's
fourth show at DON'T TELL MAMA, features two of Stephen Sondheim's
"songs I wish I'd written (at least in part)": "Better" and "The Rules
of the Road," in addition to songs from Broadway shows ranging from
"Babes in Arms" and "The King and I" to "Mack and Mabel" and "Chicago."
