A DUPLEX NEW YEAR

THE DUPLEX CABARET THEATRE (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438 - http://www.theduplex.com/) in the heart of New York's West Village, plans to bring in 2003 with a bang on Tuesday, December 31st.

A DUPLEX NEW YEAR from 8:00 until 10:00 pm will feature some of cabaret's brightest lights, each toasting the New Year in a classy evening of fun and music. Performers scheduled to appear are Bobby Belfry, Jarrod Cafaro, Scott Coulter, Brandon Cutrell, Barbara Fasano, David Gurland, Michael Holland, Rick Jensen, Karen Mack, Phillip Officer, Julie Reyburn & others.

From 10:30 pm to 12:15 am, cabaret mega-force Natalie Douglas takes over with her sultry jazz vocals in an intimate evening, designed to welcome in a brand new calendar in style.

Tickets for both events are $50, and may be purchased via SmartTix - http://www.smarttix.com/, or by calling 212-206-1515. A limited number of tickets are also available at the club. Individual tickets are $25 for A DUPLEX NEW YEAR, and $35 for Natalie Douglas's show. At each performances there is a 2-drink minimum, and a champagne toast is included.

The Duplex Cabaret Theatre has re-emerged as a leading voice in the cabaret and theatre communities. Reknown for helping launch the careers of performers ranging from Woody Allen to Joanne Worley, Barbra Striesand, Hal Holbrook (the Duplex's first Booking Manager), and Joan Rivers, among many others, the Duplex Cabaret Theatre has endured for over fifty years strong. Recent performers include celebrated Broadway and off-Broadway composers such as Stephen Schwartz, William Finn, Michael John LaChuisa, Julie Gold, Andrew Lippa, Henry Krieger, David Friedman, Laurence O”Keefe, Tom Jones, Jason Robert Brown, Frank Wildhorn, Charles Strouse, John Bucchino, Carol Hall and others, all part of the Storefront Theatre's NEW MONDAYS series, which celebrates composers both new and legendary.

Acclaimed cabaret artists who have recently shared their talents on the Duplex's stage include Barbara Brussell, Lisa Asher, Natalie Gamsu, John Wallowitch, Quinn Lemley, Amanda Green, Jeff Harnar, D.C. Anderson, Julia Murney, Devan May, Becca Ayers, Orfeh, the cast of "Bat Boy: The Musical," Mary Stout, John Bucchino and Lina Koutrakos. The Duplex's upcoming Downtown Revivals series includes Barbara Fasano, Baby Jane Dexter, Jeanne MacDonald and Phillip Officer. And of course, the legendary Joan Rivers returns several times each year.
