Foiled Again Trio: "Hit
Factory: Songs of the Brill Building"
Foiled
Again (Allison Bazarko, Rob Lindley and Sheridan Smith) follow-up
the success of last winter's "Holiday Bizarre" with "Hit Factory:
Songs of the Brill Building." Directed by Dan Stetzel, the trio celebrates
the assembly line manufactured pop music of the late 50s-early 60s
churned out by such song-writing teams as Goffin & King, Greenwich
& Barry, Bacharach & David, and Lieber & Stoller. The Brill Building
sound is best heard in songs like "Up on The Roof," "Be My Baby,"
and "Leader of the Pack," - all of which will be featured in HIT FACTORY.
We want everyone to don their beehives, a pair of shades, grab a summer
drink and enjoy these fun songs that recall the romances, rivalries
and the thrill of hitting it big.

and Hollywood by way of Harlem's prestigious Cotton Club, performing
alongside such jazz greats as Fats Waller and the Mills Brothers.
The nightclub chanteuse
stunned salivating audiences from Las Vegas to London's famous Palladium
with powerful vocals and dazzling beauty. Dorothy Dandridge went on
to become the first black woman to play the Empire Room of the Waldorf-Astoria
in New York, and later paved the way for actresses like Halle Berry
when in 1954 she became the first black woman to be nominated for
an Academy Award. Join MaryMonica for a tribute to the lustrous career

accompanies herself on accordion (in the style of Clifton Chenier)

through such original tunes as "Hot Sicilian Pizza Boy," "Good Stiff
Cocktail," and "Crazy White Trash," her credits are impressive and
diverse: she's opened for David Bowie on a national tour; sang with
the Cleveland Chamber Symphony; performed on NPR many times; and has
appeared on Charlie Rose, "The Tonight Show" and A&E. For this engagement,

Johnny Mercer, the Gershwins, Duke Ellington and more. Moonglow was
founded in 1992 by Kathryn Gallagher, Diane Compton and Julia Maish
with the original intention to recreate the style of the much-admired
Boswell Sisters, a New Orleans-based trio popular in the 1930s. The
innovative trio bridged the gap between black and white musical genres
like none before them. Moonglow performs lively, engaging shows that
pay tribute to the Boswells while infusing their music with a fresh
perspective and a modern sensibility. Accompanied by Steve Goers,
Moonglow is a singularly enjoyable musical experienceŸa nostalgic
visit to a more light-hearted world.
