Steven Brinberg in "Simply Barbra - A Christmas Show"

Steven Brinberg recently appeared in the Broadway concert of "Funny Girl," the show that launched Barbra Streisand. Now, as "Simply Barbra," this world-renowned impersonator is bringing a new evening of holiday songs and stories to DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/) on Fridays, December 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th at 8:00 pm and Sundays, December 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th at 6:00 pm. Christopher Denny will act as Musical Director for the show. Tickets are $20 with a 2-drink minimum.

"Simply Barbra - A Christmas Show" will, of course, feature songs from the Streisand holiday album, including "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and the fast-paced, beat-the-clock arrangement of "Jingle Bells." Brinberg has also written a biting parody of "I Don't Remember Christmas," which becomes an ode to Ms. Streisand's ex-love, Don Johnson. The Sondheim standard, "I'm Still Here," becomes a playground for other famous voices, as Cher, Billie Holiday, Bea Arthur, Lena Horne and Christine Baranski fight for equal stage time.

Steven Brinberg first embodied the diva herself in 1993 at DON'T TELL MAMA. His ever-changing show has since been seen in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Houston, The Edinburgh Festival, and a UK tour culminating in a West End run. He recently completed a sold-out tour of Australia, where the real Barbra was appearing as well, and was honored to review her show for the Sydney Morning Herald!

Brinberg was invited to perform his loving satire of Barbra with Nathan Lane and Audra McDonald at the Library of Congress tribute to Stephen Sondheim, and just completed a series of concerts with Marvin Hamlisch and the Washington Symphony.
