Jeudi Cornejo Brealey at The Gardenia

Tom Rolla's Gardenia is delighted to present Jeudi Cornejo Brealey in her newest cabaret act, "CONVEYANCE," a transcontinental cabaret communiquœ, traversing time and memory via song. The show will be presented on Friday & Saturday, August 23rd & 24th at 9:00 pm at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444) . Music Direction is by Charlie Harrison and the show is directed by Paul Hemstreet. On percussion is Henry Newmark, and on Saturday night, special guest Mike Bolger will join on accordion and brass. Tickets are $15.00 per person (Cab West 2 for 1), with 2-drink minimum. Showtime is 9:00 p.m. Dinner seating from 7:00 pm.

True to Jeudi's signature style, CONVEYANCE features a collection of American jazz favorites, gems from the cabaret songbook, French classics and Spanish language treasures. The show's title, CONVEYANCE, sums up Jeudi's goals as a cabaret artist: To communicate, to impart, and to transport.

A native Californian, Jeudi draws inspiration from her Costa Rican and Mexican-American cultural heritage, extensive travel and studies abroad, a theatre/film background and her cherished family life. These combined experiences bring great depth and honesty to her work. Jeudi's introduction to cabaret began over a decade ago when she was a student at NYU-Tisch School of the Arts, and she first began performing in Greg Payne's showcases at the old Five Oaks in the West Village. However, it is in recent years that Cabaret has emerged as her preferred medium and her dedicated pursuits of the form have brought her to the stage of some of Hollywood's finer venues.

A trained visual and performing artist, Ms. Cornejo Brealey earned her MFA at California Institute of the Arts, where under the tutelage of her mentor, the late Alexander Mackendrick, (Director of Sweet Smell of Success, The Man in the White Suit, and The Ladykillers) she studied the craft of dramatic narrative. Her work focuses on themes of identity, family and spirit. She lives in Southern California with her husband, their twin toddlers and two canine companions.

Dinner seating from 7 p.m.
