VOCAL TRIO EASTERN STANDARD TIME BECOMES THE VOCAL TRIO BOULEVARD EAST

DEBUTS NEW NAME & SHOW AT DON'T TELL MAMA - OCTOBER 16th & 22nd

The trio consisting of Beth Covell, Dana Merritt and Mr. Howatt will take a new name, as well as a new show out for a test drive. They will be offering two performances of their newest show, titled, "Act II," on Wednesday, October 16th at 6:30 pm and Tuesday, October 22nd at 8:30 at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/). The show is directed by David Leidholdt, with technical direction by Shawn Moninger. Cover charge for both shows will be $12 with a 2-drink minimum. Due to the existence of a SKA band in Washington, DC calling themselves by the same name, the NY-based, twice MAC Award-nominated group has decided to make the change.

While noted for performing standards from the golden age of the American Songbook, the trio is looking to expand their repertoire. Act II's song list includes works by Harold Arlen, Rodgers and Hart, and the more contemporary Kander and Ebb, Maltby and Shire and William Finn. The new show also features the talents of songwriter Michael Holland both as composer and arranger. Mr. Holland has arranged a special three-part harmony rendition of his song, "The Mention of You" for Boulevard East to perform. Mr. Holland also serves the trio as arranger of "We Arlen Love" a collection of songs by the writer who brought us the scores of The Wizard of Oz, and House of Flowers among others.

Originally formed by Christopher Howatt and Dana Merritt as Eastern Standard Time, Boulevard East harkens back to a time when melodies were hum able and lyrics were memorable, composed by such artists as the Gershwins, Hoagy Carmichael and Richard Rodgers, as well as celebrating outstanding contemporary songwriters from both the theatre and cabaret stages. Mr. Howatt serves as musical director, pianist and singer in the group. Joined by Ms. Merritt and soprano Beth Covell, they form the trio that performs those wonderful songs in "fabulous three-part harmony."

Since their successful debut at The Triad in January 1997, the trio has performed at various prestigious venues and affairs throughout the metropolitan area, including Judy's Chelsea, The Garrick Gaieties, Manhattan School of Music, the Dutch Treat Club and Tavern-on-the-Green. The three entertainers were tapped to open the 15th season of cabaret at the renowned venue Odette's in New Hope, PA in February 2002, and will return there with their holiday show this December.

As Eastern Standard Time, the trio was selected to appear at the Mabel Mercer Foundation's Tenth Anniversary Cabaret Convention at Town Hall, sharing the stage with such cabaret luminaries as Cybill Shepherd and Michael Feinstein, The trio has also been twice nominated in the Outstanding Vocal Group category for the MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) Award.
