Ginette Bernard to Celebrate Bastille Day in NYC in Cabaret Double-Header

Cabaret singer Ginette Bernard will lead Bastille Day celebrations in two locations in New York City on Sunday, July 14th, 2002. First she will present an outdoor performance at 5:00 pm at the Alliance Franaise Street Festival, 60th Street & Madison Avenue, followed by an indoor soirœe at CHEZ SUZETTE (675B Ninth Avenue, NYC - 212-974-9002 - http://www.chezsuzettenyc.com/) at 8:30 pm.

Manhattan will hum with the romantic melodies of Chanson Franaise as French-Canadian songbird Ginette Bernard provides the grand finale to the Alliance Franaise's open-air Bastille Day festivities. Ms. Bernard's musical double-header continues with an evening performance amid the more intimate surroundings of Chez Suzette, the popular restaurant/cabaret in the theater district where the French national holiday will be celebrated well into the night.

Accompanied by her four-piece band, Ms. Bernard's program features the classic songs of France's most revered music icons; Piaf, Dalida, Aznavour and Moustaki to name a few. Her lively jazz inspired interpretations of French Song have delighted New Yorkers at previous Bastille Day celebrations at the prestigious Pierre Hotel, Tavern on the Green and La Belle Äpoque. An accomplished opera singer as well, Ginette Bernard often reverts to operatic form, stepping a way from the microphone to sing some of the great mezzo-soprano arias from her repertoire such as the Habaøera from Carmen.

A native of Quœbec, Canada, Ginette Bernard now lives in Manhattan where she has performed at such renowned venues as Don't Tell Mama, Danny's Skylight Room and Duplex. Her first solo CD, "Comme Moi," is a jazz flavored tribute to Ädith Piaf and Dalida and was warmly received by the press in her native Quœbec as were her concert appearances at Montrœal's Place de Arts in support of it.
