ARCI'S
PLACE CLOSES DOORS SUDDENLY
ON MARCH 15 - CITES PROBLEMS WITH LANDLORD

Park
Ave rents too expensive for popular nightspot - John Miller makes
plans to move to Theater District
After protracted discussions with his landlord, John Miller, the MC
of such successful cabaret engagements by Donna McKechnie, Christine
Ebersole, Sam Harris and Margaret Whiting, has confirmed that he has
been forced to close the doors as of March 15th on the much beloved
ARCI'S PLACE (450 Park Avenue South, NYC - 212-532-4370 - http://www.arcisplace.com/).
Arci's Place,
which was voted 2001's Best Cabaret Room in Time Out Magazine, and
was recently presented with a BACK STAGE Bistro Award, has lowered
its final curtain. All shows scheduled have been cancelled. Miller
states, "We love the neighborhood, but unfortunately the cost of doing
business on Park Ave has proven too rich even for my blood. We are
in negotiations for a new venue in midtown Manhattan on the West Side,
which we believe will be better situated for our customers who have
come to expect the best in cabaret entertainment from us. We anticipate
opening the new establishment, which will include a dining room, a
cabaret room and a piano bar, in July or August."
Arci's Place
opened in 1998 with cabaret veteran Karen Mason, one of the stars
of Broadway's Mamma Mia!
